The Chief Secretary for Administration, Chan Kwok-ki, led a delegation of the Working Group on Planning and Construction of the University Town on a visit to Germany in May. The delegation visited RWTH Aachen University, University of Stuttgart and Bildungscampus Heilbronn, with a view to preparing for the planning and construction of the Northern Metropolis University Town in Hong Kong. The new University Town in Hong Kong will provide teaching and research facilities of universities, as well as integrate with the adjacent industrial sites and residential communities to promote the co-ordinated development of education, technology, talent, industries and urban functions.

During the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 held in Davos, Switzerland, in January, the Financial Secretary, Paul Chan, engaged with leaders from governments, international organisations and the business sector through a series of panel discussions, bilateral meetings, corporate events and media interviews. They exchanged views on the global economic and financial outlook and explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation in areas including trade, finance, innovation and green development.

The Financial Secretary, Paul Chan (third right), hosted a roundtable with representatives of financial institutions and family offices in Zurich, Switzerland, on 21 May.



The Financial Secretary also hosted two thematic roundtable meetings with representatives of banks, asset management institutions and family offices in Zurich on 20-21 May. He highlighted Hong Kong’s role as an international financial centre and a key gateway connecting the Chinese Mainland with global markets, as well as emerging development opportunities in areas including finance, innovation and technology, trade and advanced manufacturing.

The Secretary for Education, Dr Choi Yuk-lin, together with a delegation from the Working Group on Planning and Construction of the University Town and the Alliance of Universities of Applied Sciences, visited Switzerland in May. The delegation conducted site visits to higher education institutions and innovation and technology infrastructure in Zurich and Basel, including University of Basel, ETH Zurich and Zurich University of Applied Sciences. The exchanges with university representatives enabled the delegates to gain insight into different development models of university towns, which strengthen the linkages between education, technological innovation and industrial application.



Secretary for Health attends the 79th World Health Assembly in Geneva

The Secretary for Health, Professor Lo Chung-mau (seventh right), held a roundtable meeting with representatives of multinational pharmaceutical and healthcare companies in Zurich, Switzerland, on 20 May.



The Secretary for Health, Professor Lo Chung-mau, attended the 79th World Health Assembly held in Geneva, Switzerland. During his visit, Professor Lo met with senior officials of the World Health Organization and other member states to exchange views on public health-related issues. He also held a roundtable meeting with representatives of multinational pharmaceutical and healthcare companies in Zurich on 20 May, highlighting measures put forward by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to develop Hong Kong into an international health and medical innovation hub.
